Question 1

What is the ACNX funding rate?

Accepted Answer

The ACNX funding rate is a periodic payment between long and short traders in perpetual futures contracts, designed to keep the contract price aligned with the spot price. It is typically paid every 8 hours on most exchanges.

Question 2

How is the ACNX funding rate calculated?

Accepted Answer

The funding rate is calculated based on the difference between the perpetual contract price and the spot price, combined with a fixed interest rate component. Each exchange uses its own formula, but the fundamental mechanism is the same across platforms.

Question 3

What does a positive vs negative funding rate mean for ACNX?

Accepted Answer

A positive funding rate means long position holders pay short position holders, indicating bullish sentiment. A negative rate means shorts pay longs, indicating bearish sentiment. Traders can use this as a sentiment indicator for ACNX.

Question 4

How can I use ACNX funding rates for arbitrage?

Accepted Answer

Funding rate arbitrage involves taking opposite positions on different exchanges where the funding rates differ. For example, going long on an exchange with low or negative funding and short on one with high positive funding, collecting the spread while remaining market-neutral.
